Phoenix II

#1 PostAuthor: Taffus » Sun Jan 08, 2012 12:45 pm

Long ago in the mists of time I managed to acquire a 1100R frame.
This had been previously modified for a mono shock, Then twin shocked and widened.
when I picked it up the guy had had enough of selling stuff on ebay so it also had the the engine minus head left in the frame. The upside down fork yokes were also there.

There was one MOT with it but no number plate. GB sent me a link to the DVLA form to apply for the V5 and a few weeks later I had the V5 plus a NI plate ! (plate apparently worth £500 according to plate shysters online though I don't think so)

Just before Stafford last year I acquired a GPz1100 ut engine at reasonable price (rare that!) and through the power of the club it was transported to Stafford (Thanks Ralph & Rob P).

The engine is now stripped by a friend and is under going some checks and repairs, I ordered some 1170 pistons last week and have to wait 2 weeks as there are none available in Europe.

Thinking of maybe making the head a 8 plug one running dyna 2000? system. I have already got ZRX 1100 front and rear wheels & suspension to go on it. Ohlins shocks (all used so will need some work)

This will more than likely be a long term project as I have other calls on my time.

Well it's been a wile but work has been carrying on.
A good friend has dismantled a GPz engine for me and the crank has now been checked by SEP.
The engine has been cleaned and sprayed black, the head has been converted to twin spark by a club member.

This arrived from Uncle Jeff this week (great service as always!)

Bloody hell Mark.

I know they say that "you can't rush quality", but have we got to wait until Jan 2014 for the next update :?

Looking good, by the way. :up

@gb hopefully not! I have decided to park the GPz as it taking up any spare fiddling time. (Thats what I bought the bike mover off you for)
@ Paul
Well my original profession was as an electronics engineer so I like trick electronics (but have no time to build anything any more)
Now with working in Germany, my home time is spent with my family (2 sons 10 & 12) so I have to reduce my stuff a lot! That said I have found a LTD 400 in Germany that I can buy ..... (cue piss taking!) :D
