Well, the wiring is nearly finished, still need to tidy some of the fittings and connections up, need to buy some thin wire to colour code the "breakout box" and some nice connectors to wire it into the main loom, also need to wire up the neutral and brake light, cut to length and then heat shrink it. I opted for Motogadget switches in the end due to them being a lot cheaper, they work well and I think look the part. Also got to measure the wire for the starter motor but have tested the circuit and that's works well.
I'm actually getting closer to starting the engine!

I hate electrics!
Yep - they're the "work of the Devil"
Taken me over a year to sort out my current Z1000 project.... mainly down to apathy!
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Just a quick one, as you all know I've been struggling with the electrics on this project its got to the point were I'm not enjoying it and my standards have dropped in order to finish this part!
I realised this a couple of weekends ago so last weekend I packed it away, I don't want to rush only to have to redo bits I am not happy with latter down the track! I'm going to have a 6-12 month break, in this time I have a couple of trivia bits to do on the ELR and I want to tart up the RG250 and I'm going on a motorcycle tour of Vietnam. Its not as if I don't have a bike to ride!

Re: Well New Project time!
After seeing a few Harris builds taking shape on Facebook I've decided to send mine away to get a harness made and all the electrics sorted out, I have spent the last few weeks asking people in Brisbane who they would recommend and a few people have recommended the same fella! so I have contacted him and he is coming round at the weekend for a chat!
On another note I have realised I have too many bikes and have started to sell some, sold the RG400 as I have a 500, also sold my first restoration which was a GPz900R A1 which I'll probably regret but I was offered silly money for it. The RZ250 & 350 are on the list as well as the GPz750 Turbo and Z1000R, also the YZF750SP! Saying that I'm collecting my RZV500R from Wyong (800km away) next weekend, the Harris Magnum GPz1260 is on the water, the RD350LC is nearly ready to collect and I've just bought two PX200E's cheap to flick on! I will hopefully be left with 10-12 bikes!

Re: Well New Project time!
Been nearly a year but I'm back on with the electrics, moved house, had a big crash in New Zealand and ended up in hospital for a week (bloody Hodnas), sold most of my bike due to the new house having no room and bought an old SAAB 96 from a nice chap in Scotland! Other than that same old same old

Re:
Howie,
Do these switches work like the Motogadget ones, press once for the lights to come on, press the same button for high beam?
As you know using a standard handlebar switch I have to wire the park lights separate so they are on all the time, using these would be the same or would it?
Hello - really sorry I didn't reply to you sooner as missed your question!!
Yes these switches work ok with the m-Unit, just as you describe.
I have the Parking Light on with the Aux output so they are on when the ignition is on.
I have ticked the little box for e-mail replies this time !!

Re: Well New Project time!
Evening all,
Bit of an update sorry its taken nearly a year but, she's alive!
Gave up with the electrics and paid someone to do the complete job, did a show wining job at that which is what I wanted. Tried to start her and she went but not good, checked the dyna pick up and the three screws were loose (not the sparkies fault, mine) set the timing again and she ran better, asked advice on FB and reset the Dyna to 40 degs and number 4 on the box and she now runs lovely. Need to clean the carbs as I've done nowt with them since buying them from a member on here around five years ago, they were fitted to a drag bike in Germany! Bodyworks all In primer as well!
