Might get to the booth before i leave but i wont stress about it either, i do most things in 2K so i wont risk not having a working extractor. Been planning this since covid, 2 weeks on the road on a W800 during the turning of the leaves, no tourist shite just mountains and coasts.

I've got a single side swingarm and wheels made by the same company on my Z1R.

All this talk of a Z1r with a single sided swing arm has me gagging to see pics....hint hint.

Catching up / taking a few steps back ! You wrote "that wheel is a thing of beauty" - I'd 100% agree with that statement. There was someone on the forum a while back looking for a company to do such work. Do you know if the GMF company is in business ??
Nice wheel either way - subtle and a refreshing change from the usual approach !

No problem. I guess it’s not an issue if I’m hijacking my own thread. The Bike will be built from frame up from a frame I bought from DK motors that was never a Bike so I’m piecing it all together as I go I’m trying to stick with the US model as most of the parts I have worked best with that. It’s going to be as close to factory as I can get including original shocks, screen, exhaust, air box with snorkel and brakes and lines. There are only a handful of parts that I need, but I buy from Japan and it’s not as hard finding the right parts as getting them back to Ireland. It will require a full repaint, but I’m hoping that I’ll have that done before March as there is a fairly big show in Ireland in April. This is as far as she looks now. There are a few things like the frame has been powder coated not wet coated, but it’s more about the overall parts of the Bike rather than the finishes.

Can you give a little more detail about the back wheel please. As far as i know the standard rear is 17 inch by around 3 inch wide. That one says 18 inch by 5.00 inch if i am reading correctly. I have only seen 'weld up' steel wheels before so is the 'New' 18 inch a consequence of both wider and deeper rims being added to a standard core? I assume that the spokes will have 17 inch cast on one of them!

So this is all i know as the fella i bought the bike from didnt know much so i did my own digging. The wheel was widened by Deget Racing in Erftstadt that are specialists in it. link below.

Thank you much appreciated. I see it now, they do a mod to the width which may also come with an increase in diameter if required. Clearly they wont be doing any magnesium wheels!

How they got the 18 out of the 17 is a mystery but the bike ran with that wheel for 10 years before it blew the top end from what i was told. Iv looked the wheel up and down and its flawless. If you want more pics just shout.

Thank you for the offer but i'm good. I am not now the expert having looked at precisely 1 website containing details but the gallery and menu of prices for options says it all. I think all would be very clear if you took the tyre off. I would expect to see two 360 degree welds about 2 inches apart and see a pair of new 18 inch 'rims' sections welded there, the original 17 inch rims having been 'parted' off in a lathe.
Why does this matter to me: i got my panties in a bunch several years ago when deciding which wheels to put in my bike. I had at that time; GPz 1100 B wheels, Z1100R1 wheels, Unitrak 1100 wheels and a pair of astralites. Now i am a slut for wide wheels so elected eventually to go with the widest i had, being the astralites but in truth a wider 17 inch wheel would have served me better. Finding suitable 18 inch tyres for me has been an issue in the interim period. That is why this is a revelation for me because its nearly or could have been an option had it not been for the increase in diameter. A 17 inch diameter by 5.00 inch wide Unitrak wheel would have given me so many more options than i have had of late. I am not complaining though as Continental continued to make the 18 inch road / sports tyre even though Avon dropped their track tyres AM 22 and AM 23!!!
