The square head light society...

Before I do the varnish on the carbon parts I need to check that the part fits.

Making a template for the adapter behind the foot rester adapter... This is because of the Busa swing is much wider, so I need more space then original.
Also this will strengthen the whole construction.

And finally, I have decided to use a square headlight!
I think square suits better the old style, so I will try to "take" back the lines to the 80`S again with a sqaure headlight.

KING OF BLING.

Well, what can I say, those who have been reading these project knows that the BLING factor is high!
So one thing I know, no one can steal my Mikuni RS36 set after I am done with them! :P :P
They are easy to recognize!

I have two of those sets, but they are market differently, the oldest? one says:

The other set says:

Anyone who knows if there are any differences, or the history?

This is what they looked like, its no point polishing them up, for to repeat it again and again...The only cure is paint! (surprise?)

Yes, and i can tell you that it is a nightmare to cut those gold threads, but after the resin is hardened it is no problem, but before? --->> :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:


Here is the 1000J tank.

Those q tip are removed BEFORE I dragged the carbon over, otherwise they would tear the carbon cloth.

After a very long an accurate degreasing on the tank its time to measure out how the cloth will actual fit.

Now the Q tip and those two bolts on top are back, otherwise I never would find those holes again.

After one layer with resin, I started on saturday, an still I am working on it, two layers a day, using rubbergloves massaging in the resin, 8 layers total pr today.

Looking good Roy. How well is the carbon taking the shape round the tank? Are you managing to deform it to fit or having to cut it?
If you etch a circuit board and feed the leds via two resistors you can have them dual intensity for brake lights and rear lights.

The gold carbon is very easy to drag around curves and fits very well, the only problem has been cutting it...
And I have tried really expensive pro scissors. :evil:
That black carbon is no problem with cutting.

I am using high intensity leds, just for to use dual resistor solution. :)
I think that will be nice.

that's what I have in the back of the Harris, work well but lacquer the board / solder after washing excess flux off as it oxidises quickly.

Have you tried a good set of serrated scissors? Check out fly-tying (fishing) stockists.

Yes that copper clad boars starts oxidize quick.
I have some old stuff left from when I built some WIFI-wireless network antennas.
With copper on both sides.

Soldered together, as a first quick and solid way to attach the boards.

Using copper clad as a casing for the backlight makes it easier to fit in the led,s, soldering the negative leg straight to the housing.

Looking very... er bling.

PS when you've finished with the hard drives, make sure you get the magnets out of them, brilliant for the workshop..... extremely powerful, if a little fragile.
