Do I have to alter each 1 individually?
What size are they supposed to be?

Well I've tried to 'resize' :roll:

having to alter each 1 individually in 'photobucket'. Every time I alter 1, click on the next pic and the sizing as referred back to original 1024 x 768:oops:
must be an easier way than doing every photo individually :??

Getting back on with the project thread :shock:

and catching up on here;
Made a start on the brakes, rear first.
It tried to commit suicide on me :cry:

(makes the strip down easier, if everything fell apart :lol:

) Even the springs surrounding the brake pipes have snapped through corrosion

It's mainly just a build up of crud, through years of leaking and not being used :shock:

(Being a 'gimp' ((wheres my mask :?:

)) if you see me using the back brake it's probably too late to stop :shock:

)

This 'linkage' rod is totally corroded and worn out

, I don't think it'll survivd a turn in the blaster :evil:

The rear master cylinder thingy is particularly fu**ed (industry term). I am at present unable to take it apart :grr

. The 'retaining clip' looks like it has totally corroded into place :oops:

I have stood it up to soak in wd40 for a couple of days, this has had no effect :cry:

Can this be drilled out to take the replacement /repair kit :?:

or do I need a complete replacement :?:

Pushed the piston back with my trusty g clamp (had it man and boy :lol:

)
Went back nice and smooth

not going to take the piston out, unless I have too.
prepared caliper for blasting (don't want any 'media' getting behind the piston)

Needed to strip the rear caliper hanger

I knew I kept some imperial spanners for something :lol:

this 9/16th spanner fits nicely under the slider for levering out :wink:

the right hand side 1 is a different 'slider', I didn't know that :oops:

. It must be the 'plastic sleeve' that makes it 'tight' :?:

all the bolts and bits removed another thing ready for the blaster :twisted:

The circlip in the master cylinder is steel - the cylinder is aluminium - with enough persuasion it will yield.
Both the steel and aluminium have corroded, the mixed corrosion reacts and sets like concrete - but is not as strong as it looks - I have had success using a hammer and old screwdriver to chisel it away.

Replacement is easier - if you can get one.

Next job was to remove the rear disc. Other than a minor amount of rust (just surface) it's in near perfect condition,hardly any scores, it's had no use :shock:

However, these disc bolts were well and truly in there :evil:

a right bas**ad (industry term) to get out.

An almost full arsenal was required to make the stubborn buggers shift (can't wait for double the amount on front wheel :no

Lots of heat, numerous different types of allen keys, an hammer, an improvised lever bar and old 'dewalter' set on hammer.

to say they got a good hammering is an understatement :shock:

It's quite clear that as a tight arse you will not spend money on the correct tools .
However i'm quite prepared to loan you my factory toolkit for working on zeds .
These have always worked fine for most jobs i've done on my bikes .

stripped the caliper hanger, the rubber/plastic sleeve is on one of the sliders again. It must be the norm

Hinckley is right, they do almost always come out, the problem with a replacement is they are all the same age and sat in the same place on the same bikes for the same length of time, so you can't guarantee the replacement is any better, not unless you have the time to drive up and down the country inspecting them before you buy.

Countless times I've bought a 'better' part than mine on ebay only to throw it in the bin as soon as it arrives.
