Thanks for offer but its not the master cylinder thats the problem, Its the rod that runs from it to brake pedal i want it behind the frame to keep it tidy!!! but because the swingarm is so wide it only just goes down between the frame and swingarm I have made a thinner rod for a bit more room but if i have a rose joint on the end of it the bolt head hits the swingarm
so i think i will make a dog leg for the end of it then it should just fit but it will still be a tight fit. Brian

Thanks for nice comments lads!! I was getting a bit fed up with it, But only because every thing i touched went wrong. I am in to deep money wise to give up now
You will see it finished!!!!! Any way i think i have finally sorted rear brake
I am on mark three now different master cylinder ect the problem is that the master cylinder is behind the frame but the rod can't drop straight down because it hits the swingarm so it has to go of at a angle but then the master cylinder won't slide up and down.I will post some pics soon. Brian.
Hi Brian.
Excellent build!!!!!
Are you deliberately trying to hide the master cylinder?
I had mine mounted under the frame rail like this
Sorry pic was a bit too big

"Set the GRINDER on it"
Brian.
Have you thought about making it remote as they did with the Z1R front ?
You could then have a thin "pull" type rod with a rocker near to the cylinder or a cable pull with rocker.
You could then mount the cylinder where ever you want. Even right up the top near to the seat.

I think this is a cracking project. I had started reading it ages ago, but have been too busy to spend much time on the forum, so just took an hour out to re-read this fascinating thread.
I am sooo glad you decided not to monoshock it and that you are staying with that lovely paint job. The only thing that spoilt a great paint job was the naff Kawasaki graphic on the tank. I've seen so many paint jobs marred by painters who have no concept of tasteful typography - sign makers are just as bad on the whole
Good luck with the welding
I decided to make life difficult for my self some years back, by dissing my MIG in favour of a TIG
It's a million times harder to achieve a good weld, but is a lot more versatile.
TLC, when you say you've been welding ally - is that TIG or MIG? I enjoy welding aluminium, but find it pretty hard. Seems cleanliness is next to Godliness in the TIGing world

Sorted rear brake
Next job is to sort out bracing round headstock, The trouble is someone has been there before!!! and made a right mess of it
Welding is worse than mine
But it is well in there and you will never get it out without buggering up the frame tubes. So as it is not up to standard i think i will have to fit a new brace over the top of it. It is not that it is weak far from it it is just the welds are a mess.

Brian. Glad you got the brake sorted. Love to see the solution.
Getting rid of that bracing shouldn`t be too difficult with a high speed grinding bit set. They come in different shapes that will allow you to carefully remove all that previous bracing.
Ralph. I tried ally welding and gave up. There`s not much call for it in what I do and when I need I just get a specialist in. He does need an 80A 3 phase supply to get enough power though. Ally, when it is thick just sucks heat out of the weld and you`ll find it cracks when put under strain. His doesn`t crack but his welder fills the back of a van. Hooooooooooooooooj !
