Pretty much finished the motor strip today. Had a visit form TLC who left the bog seat up

Lots of degreasing to do before I take all the bits that have been larded with shite paint to a company in Cardiff to do a chemical strip. To get all that crap out of the fins and stuff with regular paint stripper would be a no no and I want to try and avoid bead blasting it all as it's difficult to get rid of the beads afterwards. I've not used this method before, so it'll be a learning curve

Finished degreasing the cases ready to go for the chemical strip bath.

Today was spent degreasing, bead blasting and the seemingly endless wire wheeling. There are so many bolts to clean up ready for plating.

This lot is only a start:

Image

Trouble is that new bolts are so expensive so cleaning up and replaying is the only real option - won't have any fingers prints by the time I have finished

Image

I know a company with a laser engraver and a CNC router, so I'm hoping that if I can get some artwork together, I should be able to get some of these badges made. I'm aware that there are printed ones available, but I want engraved ones on fat ally as the original. Sadly they're on longer available from Mr Kwaka

Ralph.

Z power have them NOS at £36 each.

Don't let me stop your investigations though as I would be interested in some 1100R ones.

Ralph,

You will not fit an aluminium disc satisfactorily onto those cases........

....... I know...... I tried! The cases have a convex surface & the fit is shite.

I even found a local engraver ready to engrave GB'sZed on to 'em.

I have had genuine replacements from Z-Power....... Perfect. :9

Bit new to me I'm afraid, but I know that Griffs' send stuff off for a chemical strip before they blast sometimes. I therefore did a Google search and found a company in Cardiff, (where men are men and sheep are shit scared) who offer said service. I am gathering together every thing that needs stripping in the hope that I will be able to paint the engine parts without blasting. There is always a risk associated with blasting that you leave some media in the engine, so I would like to avoid the risk if practical. I don't know how clean it comes back, so for me this is a bit experimental.

Fuck me .... I feel violated  and doubt I'll be able to sit down for a week

Is it worth weighing in the old ones ... I assume from the price of the new ones that they're made of platinum
