Time for a bit of an update on this project.
I decided to have a rebore and as the engine was at .5 already i got a set of 1.00 pistons. After doing a leak test in the head that didn't look too good either so the top end is all in the care of Graham Slter of Diptune at the moment.
With Graham building the topend it seemed sensible to let him put the engine together so yesterday i started to remove the bottom end from the frame.
After some wrestling with the shaft drive coupling and a little advice from my good friend Nigel at AVC i got it disconnected and then removed what i guess you'd call the trans casing...

I did find the nut and the end of the shaft in there as well. The nut looks like it's never been off so why it's broken is a mystery
