You know when there's spells in projects when things seem to come to a stand still ?
Well the last few weeks have have been like that, I decided to save a bit of cash and buy various NOS engine parts off EBay , some were in the US and some were in mainland Europe, these being pistons, valves and rings.
Anyway, the US parts arrived after a bit of a 'duty' issue, the Euro parts went astray, weeks passed, emails were sent and eventually this morning another set arrived.
Looking at the packaging I'm not surprised the first set went missing, luckily the pistons were fine.
So, time to fit the new pistons, rings, pins and snap rings
Now do you remember my nice rebuilt head ?
Had a set back with that as well, again due to EBay , when it was being shim'd my mate discovered that one of the NOS inlet valves was a rogue, it was longer than the others and wouldn't close so had to pop that one out and clean one of the originals, waiting on a few shims being delivered.
Anyway, fingers crossed might get the engine bolted together over the next week, or should I say my mates bike garage will .....while I bolt my other mates MK2 Escort together.
Hopefully next photos I post will be a full motor in a frame.
Cheers, Paul

Then I went all British Leyland, I bought a NOS bare shell in factory primer that had been stored since production ended, I built a stage two 3.9V8 and using a rotten donor shell for parts to refurbish, and stay within DVLA rules, I built this.
All the above now sold .... so I just clean this and enjoy the Z's more than the cars, although I am often tempted top pull the car apart for a deep clean !!

Hi Neil, I agree, a lot of the modern Turbo stuff will run rings around them, however the 944 models are so varied
2.5 8v
2.7 8v
2.6 16v
3.0 16v
2.5 Turbo
Mines the 3.0 16v, it's got very linear power and can be deceptively quick but return great mpg, mines only done 67k from new and is rarely used.
If you want quick it has to be the Turbo, a stage one chip see's a reliable 300bhp with the potential for much more.
Prices are also going the way of the air cooled Porsches after a long time at banger money, the trouble now is finding a good one.
