Finally got some time to work on my own bike and had a slight change of plan in the process.
I've decided that the 1428 motor may possibly be a tad too powerfull for the little lightweight cafe racer so i've decided use it as a basis for a nice minimalist Moriwaki rep.
I'm slowly collecting parts for it but will resist any major work until the cafe racer is done.
Here's where it's at so far.

PICT1122.jpg

The cafe racer, due to the very tight frame is now going normally aspirated with bored out 26mm carbs (to 29.5mm) ,Yoshi type pistons ,gasflowed head and not much else.
Here's a few bits i've got done in the last few days, So will hopefully start getting more work done on a regular basis and maybe piece together and re-post some of the stuff that was lost in the meltdown.

Don't like gold too much so have replaced the zx10r calipers with those off an R1.

Pretty much a straight swap but the R1 calipers sat too high on the disc (shown in this pic)

So required 5mm removing off the calipers 'feet'

And, Hey presto! another job done.

Next up was the rear caliper, again nasty gold and would also require fabricating a hanger.

R1 caliper and hanger fit the disc perfectly

Just needed modding for a torque arm and sleeving for the smaller spindle

Now to squeeze in a torque arm

Have also machined down an old damaged ignition housing which will have the old oil seal hole plugged with a nice bit of turned alloy to keep the oil in.

PICT1129.jpg

This is due to the arrival of a self generating cdi race ignition that runs in place of the alternator :D

A small total loss 12v M***D battery will now live in the seat tail to take care of the brake light and horn to keep plod happy
