Shock mounts

#81 PostAuthor: Zomerset Zed » Tue Oct 28, 2014 12:59 pm

What's the story with the shock mounts on the swingarm? I take it you will weld these on in the places you have pinned them?

Only asking, coz I am going to hack mine off and machine up some new ones to relocate, as was thinking through how to simply jig them for welding :)

Oh the shock mounts I found they was fun and games ..

Once I sorted the wheel alignment I bolted the mounts to the shockers and hung the shocks from the frame .
Next I placed axle stands under the frame to hold the weight of the bike as I don't have any center stand brackets ..

Then I wedged the wheel at the desired angle and marked the swing arm where the mounts sat .
Mounts I had made have a counter sunk hole in the middle , So I drilled and tapped the the swing arm and used counter sunk bolts .

Then that just left the final little tweaks to be made .

Tonight's activitys

Front forks have been rebuilt with freshly powder coated lowers new seals, oil and bushes

I hope you are not planning on just the bolts threaded into the swingarm to hold the shock mounts on :?:

Not a bad idea though to bolt them in place for welding
