I have the same forks on my ZRX1200. They are superb.

Re: new member with Z900 project
Awsome job, love it. Got one of these myself very quick for the day and today. Are you still running std turbo?
Re: new member with Z900 project
Be nice to see a pic of the pipe without the fairing lower
Re: new member with Z900 project
Thats awesome, I have a 750 turbo itch and love the standard colours but that looks great in green/black
Re: new member with Z900 project
It's a standard Hitachi turbo but with an upgraded billet compressor wheel and the wastegate set to the top end of the standard range. The oil pump has also been upgraded with a later ZR7 unit. The spider downpipe was gong to be titanium but Racefit reckoned inconel would be more durable. The pipe is titanium from the turbo outlet onwards. The spider was apparently a pig to make as there are four tight bends in a very small space and there's a frame cross tube in the way as well. This exhaust and the Harris swingarm are one-offs as it was the only way to get the look I wanted. There are hardly off the shelf parts for turbos, even in Japan. I wanted 17" wheels with 120/180 tyres (which required a new arm) and to lose the horrible standard footrests (which required a new exhaust). The end result looks even better than I had hoped for, to me anyway.
The pipe runs close to the bellypan so fingers crossed it won't melt the plastic. Racefit exhausts tend to be on the loud side but the turbo acts as a muffler so I am hoping the overall result won't be too anti-social.

...and if you are looking to scratch your turbo itch, I have almost finished restoring a second bike to a very high standard. It's about 98% original but with modern rear shock, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. I just don't trust 35 year old fuel components.
The black/green bike has been away at Harris and then Racefit for almost 2 years so I bought the second bike as a restoration project to keep me busy and use up a lot of left over NOS parts. Send me a PM if you want any details.

Re: new member with Z900 project
The bike is now finished and is on the front cover of this month's Practical Sportsbikes. There's a long list of small niggles to sort over the winter but the engine is now fully mapped and the final outcome was 168bhp at 10psi of boost and 130 lb ft of torque. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out and a bit amazed by the power and especially the torque. A Ducati Panigale V4 has 92 lb ft. The midrange should be very punchy. It's actually in a fairly mild state of tune with an 810cc overbore, standard cams and modest boost; I was expecting 140bhp and 100 lb ft max.
I'll get the niggles fixed and then the plan is to just ride it. I hope to see some of you at Kawasaki events in the future.
