Smashing and all in just two short pages. Puts my old J1 to proper shame. Well done that is a superb job and sets a very high standard for others to follow.

Don't be too hard on yourself ! I started with a fairly good basis that had been reasonably looked after apart from the engine . I had no real corrosion issues to deal with and compared to for example the Z1100ST project from Ralph Ferrand it was a walk in the park.
However in total it has taken a year to complete and including the initial purchase has cost over €4000 to this day a huge amount more than I ever intended to spend and probably more than it is worth, but you don't know that at the time and once you go so far you have to see it through . I had intended buying a ZRX 1100 but this came up and with all the memories of my 1100R sometimes you just can't help yourself.

Not much done recently due to work and family commitments but last week replaced the 15 year old tyres with some BT45's. Sounds simple enough but because I fitted a 130 section rear ( 120 listed by Bridgestone ) and this is Germany here, I had to take the bike to the TUV for an inspection !! This cost me €39 and following that I had to have the registration documents ammended which cost a further €11. I hope you all appreciate how lucky you all are in England even my brake lines and exhaust are listed as modifications in the papers !!

Discovered why the back brake was so poor in operation . The carrier for the
caliper was slightly bent causing the pads to only touch the disc on the edges.
Easily fixed from my spare bike.

Balanced the fuel injection too. What an absolute fiddle, you need two pairs of hands, exactly the correct length 8mm box spanner and a lot of patience. While I was at it I adjusted the throttle position sensor with the correct Kawasaki service tool ( thanks to my brother for that ) and swapped the engine temperature sensor. Everything seems a lot smoother now .

Finally fitted the original chainguard and the main stand for convenience sake using the old coins in the spring trick I first read about here.

Image

I have now covered 200km running in and am beginning to have a bit more confidence in the bike ( bearing in mind I only rode it 5 times before it all went horribly wrong when I first got it ). I do notice that I am forever looking for an extra gear in top and how incredibly hot the bike gets when stopped at traffic lights ( a lot here , roundabouts hardly exist ) but if I remember rightly my 1100R was not so different and we did have 30 degrees last weekend.
