Thanks all for the positive comments. Its booked in tomorrow for the MOT but there are a few teething problems to be sorted, brakes are rubbish but should just need bedding in and the battery is not really up to starting it. I need to get some local miles on it before I can check everything and get the carbs set up a little better.

Good luck with the MOT. Kettle will always be on if you wanna venture as far as Bristol whilst it's all settling down.
Might even find some biscuits!

That's a very kind offer which I will one day take you up on.
Not as soon as I would like as the lovely man doing the MOT took it on himself to fail my bike for 'exhaust noise clearly in excess of that emitted by a similar motor bicycle with a standard silencer in average condition' Come the revolution etc etc..
Anyway it means I have to make an internal noise reducer before Thursdays retest. I knew I shouldn't have taken it to a H****a dealer but it was the closest testing station to me.
Good news was it didn't fail on much else and covered its first 6 miles without incident, its quite quick too. :D

H***a shop  H***a's all sound like castrated farts at the best of times, so any real MAN's bike will sound loud in comparison
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I am nearly deaf these days so I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.
I made a baffle out of 15mm tube, a big washer and some insulation borrowed from the loft all strapped together with wire and then shoved up the the silencer from the front. It reduced the noise to that emitted by a nissan micra, and gave the bike similar performance, 3500 revs was all it would manage, sufficient to get to the test centre get my MOT and potter home. Needless to say as soon as the pipe was cold enough the offending baffle was removed.
Now to run the engine in and pick up all the bits that fall off.

Great news! Kettle is only a 'click away'!

My wife was taking the piss out of me today, because of all the bits I change for my MOT's, then change 'em straight back once the bike passes.

One good thing about Queensland, we don't have any form of MOT :D
Just have to supply a safety certificate when you sell the bike or the ergo has lapsed.................how cool is that!

Sebrings are loud, especially full race ones - good pipes though. Luckily my MOT man has a Harley that sets off car alarms
