gasket spray

#31 PostAuthor: andy c » Tue Feb 26, 2013 7:03 pm

Who`s gasket spray are you using, years ago I used PERMATEX No18902.
Then it was supplied later by LOCKTITE, HIGHTACK No99.
I used this on my drag bikes and never leaked once, with copper gaskets and wired block.
I have none left and need some more , Who? and Where? Thanks

Frame.
Nearly everything on the frame was zip tied or 'P'clipped on and it was all a bit shite so we took the opporunity to add some proper brackets and tidy things up a bit

Front got some tags for the bellypan/scoop dzus fastners.

And a proper mount for a steering damper
PICT0443_zpsb9ccba30.jpg

Rear got more dzus brackets for the seat and a tube welded through the chassis to take the airshifters fixing bolt.
Previous there was just a hole through the box section for a bolt which crushed the box section when tightened.

Ignition coil was originally slung off these tubular mounts with some zip ties

So some alloy brackets were whipped up to make things look more professional.

Next job was to make a decent rear mudguard / battery box with oil and fuel pump mounts

Orrible original item is on the left.
Again this was attached to the frame with zip ties and all the pumps etc were mounted to it in the same way

PICT0447_zps0e842be2.jpg

A threaded lug was welded into the seat subrame
PICT0445_zps762dcefc.jpg

And a couple more tabs to a cross tube below the new battery box hold my improved version in place.
PICT0449_zps47caad07.jpg

A couple of side panels were made to hide all the gubbins then bent ,cut about and trimmed until they could be removed without fouling the frame etc
PICT0451-1_zpsa554b7f3.jpg

PICT0452-1_zps835e9211.jpg

Unavoidable large gap at the top won't be seen when seat is on.
PICT0453_zps0d4e23ae.jpg

Slot in left side panel allows turbo oil tank level to be checked
PICT0480_zpsad4b00ee.jpg

PICT0481-1_zpsdc8d67e3.jpg

Pumps will sit in these alloy saddles, Fuel at the top and oil at the side and all power switches etc will be on the left side panel

A slight improvement on the original ?

Any small weight increase of the pump brackets etc has been offset in other areas by replacing the steel footpegs etc in alloy etc etc.
The difference is negligible and nothing the rider couldn't easily offset by having a good shit before riding it.
The bike will probably be lighter than it ever was but that isn't the point of the re-build.
