Agreed Neil, but the rear suspension is still incomplete, so it's a bit difficult to roll it around at the moment.

At long last, I've managed to complete the top shock mount for my rear suspension. :hur2 :hur2

There have been a couple of 'prototypes' that have fallen by the wayside. This is what I've ended up with.

Image

I decided to use a complete sub assembly, then it it needs any modifications once the rest of the frame has been powdercoated, I can just unbolt it. :)

Original engine mounts were re-made with 6mm flat bar, then some box section welded between them, with 6mm flat bar being used for the shock mount.

Image

Turned a couple of reduced width spacers to replace the originals.

Image

Bolted it all together.

Image

Plan now is to wheel it all outside & determine how much the clock/headlight mount needs to be moved forward, so it doesn't foul the forks when the bars are turned.
But it will now stand on it's own two wheels. :hur2

Well that was definitely worth the wait Steve :)

Nice bit of fabrication there :cool and glad it now stands on it's own two feet.

Keep it up :up

I like that GB - much better than the flimsy standard sh*te that Kawasaki deemed suitable for holding the engine in place
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Had another day to meself today. :D

Machined a couple of axle spacers so that my ZX7/9R wheel now sits centrally between my GSXR forks, then machined some extended dowls/spacers so that my radial calipers clear my 320mm discs. Re-profiled the heads of the stainless socket caps while I was at it too.

Sorry about the pic's. I'll try not to use the phone in future.

It's taken just two minutes to write what took me most of today. But then I've always said...... "You can't rush quality" :rir :rir

Top job on fabricating the shock mount their GB, like it :up

Im sure JMC used to do something similar back in the '80s / '90s as a monoshock conversion for Zeds - could be my puddled mind playing tricks though :kod

Gathering pace this now though, keep it going!!
Wots up DOHC
