Managed my first ride on this today. :D Didn't go far, just a couple of quick laps around the block. Initially there was a strange, random 'tinging' noise. I quickly realised it was the stone chips from the front tyre hitting my exhaust. :?? :??

Only a couple of small issues (so far).........

The speedo, seems to be showing double my actual speed, so have set the pick up count to 10, as there are 10 'webs' on the rear disc.

The other is a charging issue, at around 3k rpm the voltage is showing 14.5v and then ticking over around 1.5k rpm with the lights on it dips below 12v.

I fitted a brand new heavy duty stator when rebuilding the motor, however I opted to use a 'pre loved' Tourmax reg/rect that came from I don't know where (Project was on a budget remember!). Today I have ordered a 'proper' replacement from Electrex world.

I'll report back when it's all fitted. :sou

OK, went to fit my replacement Reg/Rec last night and discovered that my brake reservoir hose is not compatible with brake fluid.

Image

It seems to have 'sweated' the brake fluid to the outside. :no :no

That was quickly removed & binned.

New Electrex world Reg/Rec fitted.

Reservoir & hose replaced.

All fired up & charging voltage is now around 14.3v.

Oddly enough I've just 'Googled' charging voltage and the consensus is that 14.6v or even 14.7v is acceptable

Speedo issue now seems to be resolved too. After changing the pick up count to 10, I ran it up on a paddock stand to 5k rpm in top gear. This showed 75mph, which considering the bike is a little undergeared is about right.

Now those little niggles have been sorted, I can take it for it's MOT.

Never seen a hose do that before, good job another job led to it being spotted before something nasty happened.

I was using VITON (fuel) hose - the clear yellow stuff from Debbens, and it did the same thing :??

Finished early today & took this for it's MOT :??

Battery had lost most of it's charge, so I jumped it, after a few minutes running, there was enough in it to start the bike under it's own steam, so off I rode to the test station.
Test got off to a great start, when the bike wouldn't start because of the battery. :grr :grr

Any how, the garage were great about it & came to my rescue with a battery pack........... The bike also passed. :sou :lon :lon

Here's the before and after pics, 4 years apart.

Note the New old stock Giuliari 'single' seat fitted, to avoid the need for pillion footrests, although the tester didn't mention anything. :D

Side panels will be re-fitted, the bellmouths are being changed for K&N's. The thought of grit and shit being able to enter the motor so easily is causing me to lose sleep. :?? The seat though might well stay....... For a while.
