In the meantime, I got a velocity stack from out East. I'm not sure whether it'll stay, as I may go with a proper filter...

And the fuel tap that I found lurking in a cupboard, I just need to sort out a gasket for it.

At least you hadn’t bought another one.... I’ve been looking for a couple of engine spacers for months I know they must be there somewhere

Hmm, after some online searching I can't find a gasket to suit this...

M&P do lots of tap gaskets Warren! The problem is that I don't know what model fits this particular tap. I'm 99% sure that it's not a Z650 one...

looks to be 44mm holes centres? if so it'll be a later 650 tap from c2 onwards I think. B model ones didn't have the bolt hole isolator bars.

Yep, 44mm hole centres ;-)
I've really struggled to find one with the 'bars' , so have settled for a simple oval one from Z-Power, hopefully it'll do the trick...

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I settled for a tap gasket from a GSX-R, without the 'bars' that cross it, although I also have a rubber Pingel gasket that could do the job if I trim it to open up the hole...
Yes,it has been a long time since I updated this thread. But that's nothing new is it?...
I managed to get the bits I needed to fit the starter clutch etc - Thanks Rob! - and the aftermarket starter clutch refurb stuff and a new needle roller bearing. But looking at the ring gear and idler gear, they were really nasty and smeggy, and the idler gear had what looked like bits of old magnet between the teeth, presumably from a knackered alternator...

Cheers Will - yeah, back on it! Despite the lockdown I'm still working, but from home, so I'm managing to grab some more time in the garage, finally... work was drawn to an early finish last night though, when I couldn't find the bolt to hold the rotor onto the crank.... arse!

MDM wrote:I'm now wondering if I've got my lock-ups mixed up, as I'm sure I have another one somewhere that is supposedly for a GSX-R, maybe I got them confused? The problem is, I can't find it as it is also in a 'safe place'......

So, I found the six bolt lock-up that was tucked away in a box that hadn't been open in years. And was I happy? Er, no. It is, as expected, for a GSX-R... so I'm currently in the situation where I have a lock-up unit for a five stud clutch, while the bike has a six bolt clutch, and my spare is also six bolt. I could as Rob suggested earlier, get hold of an earlier clutch and it's stronger steel basket, or find a lock-up unit to suit the six bolt clutch that I've got loads of spares for...
