:lar

It's a funny one Mark, when I had my LTD I tried it both ways and ended up keeping the deeper cut out at the front. I guess it fits both ways so it's down to personal preference? I'm sure yours will look great when it's finished :up

Mind you, with a Z-Power replica, it's harder to tell......

And you of all people Piggy ain't normally happy with the 'standard' look, so why keep your muddy in the 'rivet counter' orientation :?

Just coz I think it looks best the way I got it, in standard orientation.

Had a couple of hours to tackle the 1 x knackered cam cap thread :?? Used an Austrailian RECOIL 6 x 1mm kit.

I used a bit of alloy angle to hold the l/hand side of the cam down whilst I removed #1 cam cap.....

Image

Got the 4 x screws out and heres the offending stripped thread...

It looks a bit like a helicoil, but it's NOT. Luckily I could just access the damaged thread and drill it our with a 6.3mm (1/4") bit. The kit came with the correct tap and that also was just accessible....

Image

Used loads of grease and paper towel around the area to catch any swarf during the whole operation..... all done and sorted

Next is to borrow a 27mm socket from work to remove the front sprox so I can fit the new one and the new chain.

I think they are particular sizes to suit the recoils only.

Bit more Zed time in the garage. Tried an old V&H for size; it was a bit scruffy but gave it a rub down and a coat of VHT matt black and it looks okay. Next was the rear tyre - a loverly period TT100 (K81). It's the correct size for the rim but looks really puny

Revisit to the CAM COVER...... here is the definitive answer to:

REPLACING A MKII SQUARE CAM COVER WITH A NICE ROUND COVER

It does fit but you have to change the cam chain idler sprocket for an earlier one as the MKII wheel fouls the round cam cover...

Image

..... if you look closely you can see I'm holding the MKII idler in the left of shot :!:

The MKII engine is now transformed to a gorgeous looking motor.

Got a Z900 "teardrop" sprox cover off GB (thanx lad) and that went on okay and actually paid for some more cooler take-offs from him as the ones I had were 10mm barbed spigots but I needed 12mm to match the cooler :?? Thats all done now so getting nearer to completion by the week
