Project Supercharger Z1

#1 PostAuthor: peterf » Fri Dec 21, 2007 3:18 pm

A little slow due to work comittments but mock up is underway.
Doner chassis is Z1000, but I am not sure if this will be used. I may go for one off frame.
ZX10R wheels forks and brakes.
Spare engine in just for mock up but those of you who remember.
1500 Big block. Original 80cui Magnusson supercharger. 8 plug GPZ head. Blower cams. Magneto. Pretty much everything else you can think of.
I want to retain original Zed looks so front end will have standard clocks and specially made brackets to fit the fat forks but look like original.
Will have original paint scheme and possibly stock 4 exhausts.
Need to decide on swinging arm and shocks. On the mock up are some period ATP turbo lock up struts that were sold in the 70's to look like shocks but lock the rear end up.
What do you all think?

Dont know if you are interested I have a frame that I used bought from a guy who ran it as a drag bike, its heavily braced and originally had a monoshock (cantilever ) swing arm, again heavily braced as the guy ran it as a turbo.

I re-welded the twin shock mounts back onto it to use it for earlystocks racing.

Its now sitting in my shed with the swing arm and single shock.
It does not have a v5 as I swapped the logbook from it to another std frame ages ago, so am really only hanging onto it for nostalgia, it would probably suit a project like yours rather than modifying a std frame.

Let me know if your interested and what you think it might be worth, I think its originally a mk11 frame.
If your interested I will drag it out after christmas and take some photos.
Cheers
Phil

Thanks for that kind offer Phil. I will let you know but I do have a few other frames to choose from here. I may end up fabricating a custom frame as the Magnusson supercharger is a real tight squeeze and it would make sense to make a frame with a little move room to work.
The hinge on the seat was off the donner bike and wont be staying! Nor will the z1000 seat. I prefer the earlier shape and style.
Merry Xmas everone!

Cheers all.
Keef- don't understand, its old and slow and there aren't any modifications.......That should qualify as a classic shouldn't it?
Just because they wouldn't insure my 650 bhp Nissan Skyline GTR...
