Thanks Al,more great info! I will get in touch with them. Yes still got your email etc.

Indeed must be a J1 then. Think the French log book says 1982 so I guess I assumed it was a J2.

I thought it was called "Luminous Passion Red"?
My Z400J3 is called that colour, and I've had a look on the RS paint site, they refer to the 81 Z1000J as Luminous Passion Red too.

+1, I used them for decals fro my ZRX, and the service was ace.

That red is gorgeous, Lawson paint scheme is stunning, but it has been done to death.

Stand out from the crowd and paint it LUMINOUS RUBY RED :up :up :up

Gave up with photoshitbucket. To respond to the video you posted i did three short clips yesterday after some remedial work.
Pretty much stone cold and have moved about to give an indication of which noises come from where!!!
This is more or less the same as youre set-up but this is a very worn and tired engine now.
I have my valve clearances at twice yours, the crank chatters like a b*&^h and the clutch bangs a bit!

Thanks Al, it definatly still sounds good :) I'm more and more convinced it's electrical issue making the ticking. I've been away for the last week with work so will get it out again on Saturday and see what I can figure out.

If it is electrical (and not mechanical such as cam end-float) the its gotta be a High-Tension spark?
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I reckon so Piggy, I checked the leads last week and seemed like one was not fully on the coil, but not had time to fire it up again yet. Hopefully it will be as simple as that :)
