The bottom bracket fits on the brake splitter.
Can you not work everything from there?

That's how I did mine.

Chris, no brake splitter on the bike. Is that how you did yours?

This is the std setup I'm using,

Lee. This is what would normally fix the fairing and would be where you get your datum point. If everything starts from the bottom yoke you would get everything else lined up.



I made my own based on this as I had to space it out.

Chris, this has been super helpful, now I am getting somewhere. Any idea how much standoff on the splitter as standard? I don't have the original any more. I'm measure I need something like 70mm standoff which seems a lot more than a splitter would be, but that said I guess the yokes are a different shape from standard.

I mounted mine against the bottom yoke but used the rubber and dowel mounting as in the battery box or tail piece. Therefore it's only 5mm from the yoke. The splitter sat on top of the dowels.

Slow progress again, we were on holiday, then working in Italy last week or so.. hoped to get a full weekend on the bike last weekend but folk keep turning up with crates of beer and distracting me!

Anyway now I have the fairing pretty much lined up and I think the headlights brackets will work after all.. still have to finalize where to mount to the yokes because the zephyr ones on it don't have the pinch bolts at the side, but I have a plan.. for now I'm happy enough that I can take the bodywork for paint finally... So planning to take a day off this week and go see the painters..



A bloody big box also turned up which threw me off as I couldn't remember ordering anything. Anyway seems I ordered a new paddock stand after a few beers and forgot! eBay and drink is a dangerous thing. Anyway not worried I had wanted one for ages and just never got round to it!

The fairing was also a drunken eSkip purchase! I was fed up looking and ended up going for the tomforde one after a stroke of Guinness ;)

So finally I dropped off my bodywork for paint. It was an interesting experience because the painter spoke no English and my French is terrible.. So lots of pointing and nodding and some choice of colours and we agreed on a price.. Now what comes back is going to be another story all together?? So I'm saying nothing on paint scheme choice until I get it. It will be a surprise Colours should be ok but what order could be interesting!! Haha.

They promised a two week turn around, but not holding my breath on that yet.. Let's see!

If a Frenchman said two weeks, it'll be double that. Mind you at least you're not dealing with a Spaniard..

Since I'm still in limbo as to what will happen to me at the end of the month with work I decided to take a couple of days off to do some important stuff Plus I thought I better finish this project before I get shipped off somewhere else and it got lost in storage somewhere!

Went over all the electrics today and sorted out few niggles, checked every nut and bolt, fitted indicators at front etc and finished all the other small things you always plan to do later..

So just need my bodywork back now, a few small odds and sods like grips, replacement nuts and bolts and rubbers that I kept forgetting about and front caliper mounts and we are set.

How it stands today.. Can't wait to get my surprise bodywork back! Lol
