Problem I've got now is the carbs look tatty so it might be time to get them refurbished properly. Any recommendations who to send them to.

blummin lovely job there, credit, the kkk could seem a bit ooh er, but if i recall there was a time when a run of imports were given them :? perhaps back in the 70's they were held back because things were different then :?:
I'll strip and rebuild your carbs for you floyd, it will run like a back of spanners after that :sou perhaps not then. :resp :resp :resp

Cheers Mick.
The carbs had a rebuild kit fitted just before I bought it (from a fellow club member) it's more the look of them that needs sorting. I liked the reg when I saw it.

The registration number KKK came out of the DVLA office in Tunbridge Wells Kent. There are quite a few Z1s about with these letters.

Hi Floyd. Your B is looking the bussiness, very nice indeed.
I have restored quite a few sets of carbs for my own projects and for some club members. Here's a before and after of a set I've just completed for a new members Z1A he's restoring.

Process is: complete strip down ultra sonic clean, clean polish zinc plate all linkages brackets shafts etc. Vapour blast carb bodies after complete seal up to prevent ingress of media. Polish carb tops and 2 outside float bowls and fit new screws. New carb kit including main and idle jets and needle. Float valve and seats, gaskets and air screws and springs.
Then rebuild, bench setup and leak test.
Let me know if I can help you out.
Cheers Dave.

Oh one other thing, thought that reg number looked familiar. Here's a pic of a Z1B I did some restoration work on for a guy in Portugal.
Turned out sweet, pity it's no longer in the country, nice UK model too.

I think it's great that there a few members ready and willing to refurb the carbs on these Z1 restos and that they are using rebuild kits which was something Mr Smethurst never offered on his part ex carbs.

My arms not strong enough yet to ride so I put the bike in my van this morning and off to my mates for an mot . On the way back I called at my local post office with the v5. He kept it and changed it to historic. I've now got 12 months tax. Was expecting problems but no, the guy new exactly what he was doing. So that's everything sorted. Just need to get my arm right and I can start using it.
Got the carbs back within two weeks looking like new, thanks again DaveZ1
