Cheers Ollie, in time, it'll stay for now because I am painting everything myself and Winter is no good for painting in a cold garage. Shame everything was bloody gold cos the quality of the paint is ok. Hopefully have them in black by the Summer.

Slow progress even for me but after assessing the calipers I thought it best to go the whole hog and do them properly as opposed to just painting them to tone down the green. With rebuild kits, pads and now brake pad plates adding up to the best part of £100 I thought sod it let's try and strip the paint myself. So armed with a flat screwdriver and some Nitromors (new formula is shite so don't bother) I stripped them down to bare metal.



At this stage I was considering a single disc set up



I may yet leave them bare metal to match the rear but in the meantime I have finished both and ordered everything to rebuild them.

Once they are done I only have to get the headlight on and lights wired up and it should be ready to go. I started it up the other week with the new tank on and it started up ok after sitting idle for a few months. Rode it into the garage and had forgot to bleed the rear brake after putting it back together. Stopped it just before making a zed shaped hole in the garage wall. Knob!

Hi Adam , i bought some of this paint stripper about 12 months ago having got pissed off with the new nitromors .
This is proper eye watering , smelly , burn like a bastard when you get it on your skin stuff .
It also removes paint just like old nitromors used to .

Hi Geoff, I may invest in some for the future, I couldn't believe how tame the Nitromors was. I could use the rest as face wash. It lifted the black somewhat but didn't even tickle the green. Still, almost there with them now.

I finished the calipers and they are back on the bike. Just need to connect them up and bleed them. The rebuild kits were from powerhouse via ebay and were spot on (next day, free delivery) and contained all except the small O-rings (x4 per caliper). The ones I had already were in fine condition so were reused. The pad holders were from zpower. The Clymer is useless for this task, it suggests taking them to your local Kawasaki dealer but it isn't too tricky apart from getting the dust seal on. A bit of Red Rubber Grease made the job easier.

Cheers Ollie, it was a close one. I will get some of that paint stripper for when I get round to the forks later in the year.

Managed a bit of time this weekend to get the brakes filled and bled and the headlight back on and wired up. There was a bit of daylight left to wheel her outside and take some pics. Couple of small jobs to do like paint a few bits on the engine and side panels to paint but this is pretty much done for now. Also want to get the stand extended a tad so it doesn't lean so much!
