Not Really a Project z900A4

#1 PostAuthor: Taffus » Wed Jan 20, 2016 9:11 pm

as it says above.
Just a recommissioning thread.
Bike went in today for MOT after 9 years standing. Passed first time!
Front brake very poor so I repalced the fluid and eased the piston back and fore, tomorrows test ride will tell if this has helped.
It was dark when I got back from the MOT place and the lights were good though the instrument lights were nnon existent. Looks like the bulbs are original but have silvered up so LED replacments have been ordered.

the only othe rissue it attracts old guys like shit does flies..... one did a you turn and followed me into the garage and went on to tell me at lrngth he had one then asked if I was selling it........ er no I have waited nearly 40 years for this bike.....

Getting them from ebay, they haven't arrived so I'm loath to recommend at present. I'll post links when they arrive and work......

Mark, the repro 5/8 mc,s from Silvers are a good buy and look correct, the right hand calipers are harder to come by as are the correct 5mm rotors, the 7mm single rotors are more readily available but the front end is well heavy then, double splitters do come up as well. Its well worth doing though with a single disc on todays roads can be well scary, you end up stomping on the rear drum...

Or a pair of Grimeca calipers at £120 a piece, make up some brackets, blag a M/C off something else, a pair of hoses, another disc and you're good to go!

My J stops a treat now... :)
