#46 PostAuthor: HowieD » Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:44 pm

Greetings,

Here are some pics taken today at Robs workshop with more progress - it really is getting down to the fiddly bits now!! Once its a roller, it's away to a Secret Workshop for Exhaust Tubery to be devised.

Starting with Front to rear:

Throttle action is too slow and needs a second bite to open completely - so that will be replaced. Various cables need re-routing and securing properly.

Not much else really untill it's Electric String cracking on time!!

THROTTLE

#50 PostAuthor: HowieD » Tue Jun 25, 2013 7:03 am

Hi,

the Carbs are standard Z1-R with a Domino but we reckon since the pulley radius is so large the action is very slow.

I'm looking at either a Mikuni Q/A one from Debben's or one from Venhills - the 888 kit.

Looking more a a neat installation without cables running everywhere so something with a 90Deg cable bend as in the pictures is what I'm looking for now.

regards

Final attempt is this Venhill 888 with a cable kit.

Seems to have the right amount of travel now:

And this is it until I get back from work at the end of next month:

Turns out that all the trouble I have had with the rear suspension is because it had the wrong stroke & length - serves me right for scrimping on the shock at the time !! no intention of that this time though.

getting there though.

As I said in a previous post - I scrimped a bit on the Rear Shock when I built it so this time it's a no expense chap to be fitted :::

Looking very good, I have a copy of that magazine in my stash of Harris articles, not the best looking of the bunch but I think that got a lot of us interested!

With regard to the ohlins, looks good what spec is it, i.e.
length,
what stroke
spring rate etc,
is it an R1/R6 One or a purpose built one,

come on we need more details!!!

My bike collection was somewhat inspired by Bike magazine as well but the Jan 83 edition with Forget the recession as the headline. Cover features a Harris, Moto Martin, Laverda RGS and a Krauser.

I've now got the Moto Martin and the Magnum 2. Laverda will have to stay a dream and no desire for the Krauser. Cant post Harris pics on here as it's a Suzuki!!

Loving how this is coming together

Ohlins Spec

#58 PostAuthor: HowieD » Fri Jul 26, 2013 2:12 pm

All I know about the Spec is:

"Ohlin shock is built 238mm long 63mm stroke piggy back with rebound and hi and low speed comp and sprung to your weight.
Looks trick Its £582 + vat so £698.40 which is good price for a bespoke shock a std off the shelf 46mm shock is more than that"

That'll do for me me thinks !!
