Its frustrating not being able to get out and carry on with painting parts. Too cold and damp in my garage.
I have though started to look at some components and solutions. One such problem is the clocks. A recent advert made me aware of some new mounting rubbers for the clock pods. From Australia they have good reviews so I bought a pair.
The originals seem to be made from foam ?

When removed from the pod you can see how they have degraded over time.

To overcome the loose fit in the past I packed it out with a washer.

Whilst okay as a temporary fix it never really stopped the vibration getting through.
Compare the old with the new.

They really are very good quality and an exact replica of the original.

A happy bunny :D

Now I need to turn to the forks.
A thread by Al some years ago has given me more pause for thought than almost anything ever posted here. I purchased some new bushes a couple of years ago but have postponed doing anything until I am at the stage where I can safely strip them out.
I have decided that I don't need any kind of performance upgrade, just for the bike to sit properly without the need to constantly monitor the air pressure. Whoever thought unbalanced forks needing 7 psi in each leg was a good idea?
I spoke to PDQ today and upon re reading Al's thread for the umpteenth time have opted for Racetech 0.85kg/mm springs only. What a nice helpful guy. They are in stock apparently so I can collect whenever I am next down there.
Paint is ready, I have space, at least until the engine is finished, and I have the correct decals. (Correct on the right)

There will be a few more parts to be refurbed by Mikey's magic hands but at least I can make a start.

Tell me Mark.
I was going to mention procrastination but I’m not sure what it means, I’ll look it up tomorrow.

This is the last piece.

The bike will be on display at Stafford.

Here is the finished bike. I am now unlikely to use it so will be exploring options to sell.
I tentatively offered the bike to visitors at £12k and did discuss including it in the Silverstone Auctions sale next spring.

Nice to hear from you Al.
There is no doubt that you are far ahead of me in understanding the J. After all, I was only ever trying to keep things stock.
The hours I've spent reading your threads :vcool
