My inspiration for this project (which is one of too many, actually its the 6th one on the go at present)

But it started due to a friend saying can you find me a J/GPZ motor so having asked the good people on here , Jack Londoncalling offered me a motor which I agreed to buy.

Then (as is the way) my mate backed out so I bought it and ended up with the first piece of the puzzle.



It was then during those 4am "I could do this","I could build that" design moments that seem to come more frequently with old age.
That I decided I could piece something together one piece at a time and maybe build a cheap track based GPZ/J.

I know I have lying around
an exhaust,
a swing arm,
some slabby wheels,
some zzr43mm forks and yokes,


But I knew I dont have
Tank,
Tailpiece
Seat
Frame (but did know where there was a scabby one!)

However Jack (london calling) true to his word kindly donated :

So the big question is will it end up like

(But probably not green!! Just to be awkward really, as the green is great but Robw's is green)

Haveing also put out some feelers out for a decent frame
Pluto has obliged and is bringing me one to Cadwell,
Robw Has a standard seat for me and a battery box.

But I cannot decide if to use this zx6r arm.

Or do I use an XJR1100 arm that I have had sitting on the shelf for a couple of years.

So what do I need next?

A set of ZRX Discs £7.50 plus p+p from ebay thats that sorted!

Forks
Assuming I dont use my zzr forks which to be honest could do with a rechrome.
Hooperman has offered a standard set of 38mm's and yokes (which I think I will go with as we know they work as they came from his Clockwork orange)

Need to sort calipers (going to try some period ap's first or brembos second)

A petrol cap for the tank? If anyone has anything please.

Cant think what else at the moment but I am sure there are loads of bits that will occur to me at 04:00 a.m.

The primary objective is to end up with a gpz/j track bike with very very few unneccessary parts fitted. Just what it needs to go, stop and handle nothing else.

Time will tell if this gets finished or becomes one of the stalled projects.
As my modus operandi seems to be
1.buy project A,
2.work on project A, .
3.Buy new project, Project B
4.Project A stalls
5.work on project B finish project B.
6.buy New project Project C.
(go back to 1. and repeat cycle)

so you'll have to wait and see if it ends up in the finished or stalled category.

Calipers - Grimeca (Lockheed replicas) the same as mine are £115 each with pads (not the best, but they're still pads!), or good second-hand ones do appear from time-to-time...

I have a spare chrome petrol cap with a key if you want it.

Nope,this is the fellow. I think Gemini have them made in batches, so if you want a set you might need to give them a shout to see when the next load are due in. Or, keep your eye on eSkip....

royp the red tank above is a B1 But thats the only tank I have so unless I find a better one thats what I'll be using.

I've fitted AP calipers all round. They are very good brakes. Watch the clearance on the fronts though. On standard alloy wheels the clearance is very tight.

Gpz 1100 forks and yokes turned up at the weekend along with my returned Slabby wheels.

Found a spindle in a box that fits the forks and wheel combination.

Then Spent some time messing around with disc and brake combinations and the best option seesm to be ap lockheeds.
Unfortunately the discs I have are either 320 or 310 and neither will work with the set of Ap brckets I have, so I ned to either,
source some zzr1100C discs or get brackets made with 5mm more radius.

Will probably go with the bracket option as I need to have wheel spacers knocked up anyway.

Gemini have the Grimecas back in stock by the looks of things, though a little more pricey since I bought mine. But, give them a shout if you want a pair as the price might be better as they'll have no fees....

Coose good to meet up at Cadwell, yourbike is properly cool and with some clever solutions. ( e.g back wheel)

At Cadwell I also managed to pick up my frame and some std wheels and a footrest hanger (kipkawa) So most major bits are there.

Had a bit of spare time for pottering about yesterday so could not resist.
