So this project rolls on piece by piece
I managed to source a better tank so now have a decent tank.
And have been mostly playing around tying to get the engineering sorted on the bike.
Wheels are now all aligned and in place, with Ap lockheed front calipers, I could have sworn I had took more pictures to upload but cannot find them.
I made some footrest plates and some rearsets from old gsxr ones and then had anightmare trying to get an exhaust to fit. Ended up with using a set of Harris pipes I had for another bike, but they seem to fit ok now.
The tank (newly sourced and decent inside) looks like it will work ok with the mikuni carbs, not sure if it will clear the petrol tap with CRS fitted though.

This pics show early stages of the ally battery box mount I decided to make.
The standard box is visible under the bottom edge of the sidepanelas so cosmetically I thought it would look better lifted up.
You can see the footrest brackets in this shot, still not convinced with them but moving the pegs to the back holes gives a comfortable riding position.
Also you can see the sidestand bracket that needs cutting off as it will foul the gearchange.

The next job was to plastic weld the mounting lugs on the tailpiece, which I originally thought was glass fiber but its actually an original. So using an old fairing in fill panel and tie wraps I moulded some new lugs into the tailpiece.
No pictures though
But it was worth trying and it has worked out well.
Bodywork has now gone off the the painters, so the next jobs are,
Sort out the oil cooler mounting, Tacho mount,
Sort out the sidestand and a couple of bits of welding to the centre stand bracket and then strip it all down for powder coating.
Also made up a rear ally under guard to mount the light which I have slightly recessed which looks better in my opinion.
