never built anything from boxes of bits before or indeed a
Kawasaki before ...so much easier when you strip and label everything yourself ...There may be several trial builds and much change in the swear box before I'm done

Hi AJAyre
By what I see I think your Z1000 is an A2 model with the brakes behind the front fork or am I wrong?
When you want to give it a fresh factory look don't forget that the front fork wasn't polished but brushed!
It all depends on your own taste, so go for it!
And about robbing a bank...don't do it, they'll find your finger prints!!!
Good luck with the restoration!

ho
My Model is an a1 And the callipers should go infront of the fork tubes...although these are a2 forks so i am assuming the bike is something of bits
your correct about the brushed finished however with this level of corrosion i think its best to get an even level of finish with polishing before i put the brushed finished on with a scotch bright pad

The forks pictured are A2, the oil drain is on the same side as the caliper mounts. The A1 has the drain opposite the calipers so in both cases it's at the lowest point if the forks are fitted their correct way round.
My old A1.....
