Not sure how I've missed this post, but it just goes to show what looks dead in the water can be brought back to life - not too many years ago a bike in that condition would have been broken for parts.

Good work Tim in saving another Zed, all credit to you matey!

Out of interest, what state was the inside of the tank - I suspect it's lined with rust and gloopy stale fuel, if so how are you going to treat it?

Thanks. The tank is a bit messy. Rotten and probably beyond repair. I will probably have to get a replacement. I will also be needing wheel rims and a swing arm with the right date codes IF I decide to go for a full restoration. It's been suggested that I get a US donor bike from May 73 to source the correct missing parts.Not too sure I can afford that! Anyway The short term plan is to get the bike up, running and roadworthy and just see how I get on. It's a good project. Took me long enough to buy it so I will just take my time. According to DVLA it was in the shed for 32 years...So lots to do.

If you get a donor '73 bike with the parts you need in good order, surely, it would be worth saving in it's own right....

Yes. Plan would be to end up with 2 using all the best bits on 1 and the rest on the other..
