I have a pair of standard Kawasaki alloys 19'' & 18'' front and rear take four bolt disks, i've no idea which model they're off is there a way to tell? possibly an 82 model, I dont have the sprocket carrier.

Steve, are there any part numbers embossed on the wheels at all? If so I have a copy of Zedder which will cross-reference them.

No part numbers that I can see just Kawasaki, made in Japan, and the sizes which are J 18 x MT 2.15 DOT & J 19 x MT 1.85 DOT also the front has ASAHI on it, do you reckon the J before the size refers to the model?

J probably denotes the rim contour (it's stamped on the wheel to assist manufacturers when selecting which tyre to put on their vehicles). J is the most commonly used contour on road vehicles.
The Z1000 J wheels use the seven bolt rims which further makes it unlikely.
It's possible that these wheels are off something like the Z1000 MK2.

I know that the H model had an extra "tyre valve" hole in the rear wheel. This was used to put in a rubber clamping block on the inside of the rim - supposedly to prevent the tyre spinning on the rim. Absolutely pointless and cursed by tyre-fitters of the day. I dumped mine and blanked off the hole.

THe MK2s and H used different calipers to the J variants so again, swings and roundabouts. If I put on four bolters I get to keep my front disks but may have to get shot of the rear caliper and disk. That's assuming the disk profiles are uniform

At the moment my research with part numbers and cross-referencing them against Zedder shows that the J models stand the best chance of being a straight swap - firstly because the Z1000 LTD K models used the J front wheel. Secondly because the rear wheel shares all of the part numbers spacers, sprocket hub and caliper with the existing rear wheel. The only difference being the wheel itself which is two inches bigger at 18"

I've measured the JMC arm - it's about an inch shorter than the standard arm. With an 18" wheel fitted and with the axle in the mid position I have about 1 1/2" of clearance between the tyre and the rear cross brace welded near the pivot spindle. I have to cut a few links from my new chain as it's too long so I have some scope to increase this clearance by moving the axle further back in its arc - although I'd be surprised if any tyre growth at speed would be significant.

Cheers for the info, when I bought these wheels I assumed they were off a Mk2 and I got them to fit onto my Z1000A1 but decided against it in the end.

After a humongous amount of cross-referencing of part numbers, PMs and searching I've finally bought this lot off Ebay. The discs are iron PMF jobbies which ought to be more than enough to haul up the Kwak what with the up-rated brake lines and caliper overhauls I plan doing. The wheels are a bit scabby looking but the tyres seem like they'll do for now. When they show up on my doorstep I'll stick in new bearing kits and repaint them. Things are starting to happen - especially to my poor old bank account. :)

Many thanks to everyone who proffered assistance / offers / suggestions. Particularly Jack whom I spent much time in back and forth exchanges whilst I picked his brains for the best way to set about this mod. Much appreciated.

It's a curse! The Triumph's riding stance often causes me to sit on my own testicles - especially under hard braking.
