Just started a retso on my latest project - a US Zed Thou A1, a lot of TLC needed, but one day she will be back to her former glory: trying to keep as much as original as poss as chrome and frame are in good condition. Hard to believe she is road legal, even DVLA played a blinder and sorted the first UK reg (1978 Historic Vehicle status) without any drama: I got my V5C (and original US docs) back within 7 working days

Will post some update pics as she progresses:

Made a little progress with the A1: all electrics working, timing spot on (new Dyna S fitted), a bit of powder coating, refurbed the switch gear and harness, fitted new tyre, chain, sprocket, sprocket guard, battery, cables, total rebuild of rear brake, and few hours with the Scotchbrite pads and Quick Glow (but many more hours to come). Currently rebuilding the front braking system then I need to give the carbs a good seeing too. Ive got the grab rail at the chromers and hopefully a Repro Exhaust System coming (via Nigel's Italian Job), but trying to keep her as original as possible as the chrome is generally very good.,

Will post another update when I've made a bit more progress.

Nearly finished the resto of my A1.
This weekend had to re set the valve timing (following a bit of stupidity on my part), did the valve clearances (2 new shims), had to fit a new Cam idler gear as the old one was very suspect.
Planned on fitting the Busso replica exhaust system but only managed the down pipes, as ran out of time.
Hope to have her fully back together and on the road in the next 2 weeks - never know it might stop raining.

I think I've finally finished my Z1000a1 resto. She had some persistent low speed running issues, but now after more sustained fettlng she's fully sorted (I hope), running spot on and ready for the road. Just had a "spirited" 30 mile ride in the sunshine and she ran perfectly: well pleased :D :D

Was unsure if to re-chrome and fully bling her up, but apart from the Busso exhausts and a spare grab rail I had, I've left all the original chrome as it was just too nice to replace. Shes not perfect but think she polishes up ok.

Now to put some more miles on her.
