cheers , it will not be perfect but really nice ,and retain all the lovely brazing lines. Discs were just vapour blasted , nothing else, don't know what they put on them after- but it was sticky goo , probably to stop them flash rusting , thinners took it off

Ray,
It's taking shape very nicely :D
I'm looking forward to seeing the finished bike.

Yip your not the only one , this one fights at every turn ! , got a nice simple 76 jota and gt 380 to do next

Update , frame finished , it’s amazing how well it’s come on , a lot of it was oxidised, give it a good coating of wax now

Next stage , I was going to put the frame over the engine but think I will complete rolling chassis next , a lot of fasteners and plates to sort out first so will take a minute or 2
Put the original paint work on the frame just to see contrast with polished work , the frame certainly brings it back to life , can’t change the paint as it’s probably the only original Saxon paint job left , complete with hand pinstripes and lettering, and it’s real 70s glitter flake

Excellent work Ray.
I bet you were absolutely black after polishing the frame...... I remember doing mine and it's a job and a half!

For contrast of the paintwork, here's the prototype how it was sold to Saxon.

The original Girling shocks refinished , dampers still fine , springs powder coated , were painted black originally, nickel plated the collets in a jam jar with 5v

Ray

Just a few lines to say how impressed I am with your restoration on this old girl... nothing seems to put you off getting stuck in, especially when you've not really had much to do with turbocharged engines before.
As you know, if I can help in any way you have my contact details so please feel free to call.

Best regards, Will

Thanks Will , words of encouragement to get off the sofa after a days work is welcome, stuck up in Aberdeen there is not the same level of cottage industry around , firms are not interested unless it’s oil related and big money
Next job is to sort out spindles , bolts and engine plates , I’d be delighted to send you all the brakes for an overhaul and new lines , I also need the small elbow bend hard pipe that goes in to the turbo as the feed

Yes it has to remain , it’s far from today’s perfect acrylic jobs but it’s genuine and original as S&S wanted it , I think it will polish up well , I never liked it at first but the rest of the bike looked so crap it didn’t help so I think it will come back to life when’s it’s married up to the new looking bling frame, chromework and engine

Was chatting to my Painter last year when I picked up a Z1R paintset he'd done for me, and he was saying that Metalflaking it's not an easy process to get right. He showed me Jars of the different size's of the flakes which are lay'd on with the colour and if it doesn't go right they can sit proud causing a rough finish.

guess this is wills shop?

on mine ,I use goodridge braided steel hose and fittings like brake hose but larger dash ,also loop the feed pipe under the unit and up the back .so it feeds from the top ,but hang the pipe high above the unit so when you cut the motor you have oil in the pipe still feeding the bearing through gravity feed, also a longer pipe will allow you to connect the pipe up then place the unit in situ on assembly as it can be tricky some times trying to connect the pipe in situ
