Z1000 owner again after 22 years

#1 PostAuthor: CJE » Mon Apr 07, 2008 6:56 pm

Hi Guys, About 6 weeks ago I came across this site and it rekindled my love of early Z,s, I posted some old pictures of my last Z900 which I had bored to 1200 and supercharged but that was when I was in my late 20?s, After a bit of hunting on eBay I managed to find a project that I liked the look of, I wanted something that had been slightly modified so on Sunday I chose the worst day of the year and drove all the way to London from Newquay in Cornwall in the snow to pick it up. I have posted a picture of the old bike and some of my new bike. I plan to swap some of the parts back to standard, headlight, foot pegs, indicators but keep the swingarm and rear calliper, I think the bike has been stored since 1993 but the previous owner plastered it in WD40 and it has no rust or corrosion, anyway I am well happy ,thanks

Looks like a nice starting point CJ. saw the bike on e bay and would have bid if I had not just bought my Z1000. Keep us informed of your progress and hope to see you around on her this summer.

Welcome back to Zed Land :D

the bike came with the standard foot pegs, grab rail, rear indicators, a brand new Harris exhaust 4 into 1, a Clymer manual, Z power parts list and bits and bobs, the bike has quite a lot of history and have been contacted by the original owner from 18 years ago, i have also got the spec sheet for the engine, 1075 kit, head polished, ported, gas flowed with the inlet opened to suit 33mm carbs, mega cycle 460/480 cams fitted, 10.5:1 cosworth pistons, dyna 5 electronic ignition, all engine work carried out by Ray Debben.

Looks a gorgeous bike but I have to agree that the nasty blue screws really should be sold to a 16year old for his M***D along with the silly head lights!

Took the day off today, had to get started and sort a list out of things to buy, and strip off things i don't want to use. originally i started out wanting the pro-stock look, and will probably end up that way but the parts that came with the bike are too good not to use. anyway here are s few more pictures of my day
