Hi bedlow1
take your time! buy some good storage boxes and sort your parts out, take a copy of your parts manual and make sure you have all the parts by putting a mark on the ones you have before starting to assemble the bike.
By doing it that way, you're sure you don't forget to install a part in a crucial place.
Correct '72 parts are difficult to find! Buy the book that was written by John Brookes ( it's sold by Z-power) and learn all about it.

Hi philippe. Yes most of the bits boxed up . Thankfully dogs bollox will be doing the engine and carbs for me hes done quite a few now Z1s, V and press bikes so he should know his stuff.
I have Johns book and agree its a good reference to Z1s which I will need as Im more knowledgeable with Z1bs .
Some of the bits that are missing are like hens teeth these days but im not into too much rush

I said it would be slow but recently engine painted is now coming together. Mike Hunnisett (dogs bollox) doing the engine work for me well beyond my skill level!

Graham,
Do you know the original mileage?
Were new gearbox bearings fitted for the sake of £140.00?
Clutch basket springs changed.
