Re: 650 C2 rebuild
Looking nice ,will have to do mine soon.
Re: 650 C2 rebuild
Barrels and head on now, found 3 buggered threads and a dodgey helicoil whilst putting it back together so carefully had to retap the threads and hope the bolts hold. Put the cams in got everything lined up, counted the chain pins everything ok, put the tensioners in and tightened it all up and its 1 pin out!!!!! Bloody motorbikes.

Re: 650 C2 rebuild
Timing sorted now but had re retap all the threads on the head as the bolts were binding, ho hum. Exhaust and carbs next, then got to try and get a couple of dents out the tank and see if it runs!

Re: 650 C2 rebuild
Engine finished, carbs on finally after an hour of swearing and wrestling and swearing again, exhaust on. Got it turning over on the starter after finding a broken wire in the handle bar switch (only had 9 volts at the starter relay). Sounded awful, chain slapping, grinding and all sorts, turned it over using the kick everything moved freely no unusual noises or resistance. Took a chance and hooked up the tank got some petrol in into it and it fired up, sounded a bit rattley but ok but need to time it properly and balance the carbs to be sure.

Re: 650 C2 rebuild
Always fun and games but starting to come together nicely.
Always a good feeling that first time the engine starts.

Re: 650 C2 rebuild
Good to see you have it running Tim, I have a set of Carb synchronise gauges you can borrow if you you don’t have any, to help set up the carbs.
Re: 650 C2 rebuild
Thanks for that Darren but already have some, got to take the bloody carbs off again though now as they are leaking at the feed pipe, i think the seal has gone, hours of fun getting them on again or buy some pods and do away with the air box and make life easier.

Re: 650 C2 rebuild
I treated mine to new rubbers booths sides, the softer rubber makes it much easier getting the carbs back on.
Re: 650 C2 rebuild
I might well get the airbox side as they are rock hard and I worried last time about them cracking and one doesnt quite fit.
