Clock faces

#1 PostAuthor: Big Fluff » Fri Apr 25, 2008 7:47 pm

Decided to 'upgrade' the original faces on the Saxon to something like Egli does on the MRD1.
I've been designing and manufacturing car dial kits for about 16 years now, and every now and then I do some for myself.
This is what they'll look like......

When you say Manufacturing what do you mean, do you actually make the plastic face and print the digits/designs on it, Can you replicate early Z1 faces ? i would be interested in having some and i'm sure there are others too!!!!

Thanks Paul. I see Beezeees do em, not bad at £30 a pair really when you think about it.

The ones I'm doing however, will only be an overlay (thick and extremely sticky backed) as the cost of setting tooling up at screenprinters is ridiculously expensive.!

For non-standard bikes, if anyone wanted a "made to customer requirements" set making for their bike then I would be more than happy to do so.

How does one get at the clock faces? Looking at the one on my desk it looks like whole plot is held together by a crimped rim. You could most likely separate the clock by cutting the rim or prying up the crimp but how would you re-assemble?

Absolutely no probs Mr Doran, just send me a pic of your present clocks. The Moto Martin symbol as we both know, is just 'martin' but do please send sketch, fag packet drawing etc to my email address stating colour etc. Basically, whatever you want, you can have.!!

As for 'how do I get to the main dials', if you order some top chrome replacement covers, they always include new 'chrome screw clamp rings'. Therefore, you can gently cut through the original black crimped ring, fit the new dial face, and the new chrome screw clamp ring can hold the new chrome top cover in place. Pizza piss :D

Hmm. Interesting. So there wouldn't be a problem taking this to the next level and modifying the clock face to include a hole for an oil light - so that I could modify my non-CSR clock's base by drilling a hole to accept a bulb?

My original CSR clock only goes up to 80 / 90 mph so I've bought a 160 mph item from another Z thou. Unfortunately I've had to sacrifice the oil warning light.

No probs overall.... The first pic is of my heavily modified Suz VS800, I did these about 5 years ago.!!

The second pic is of my Suz GSX1200EFE special a couple of years ago.

That's great. I'll have to check that the clock I have will do the job ok but I reckon I can see myself asking you to knock a set up in the not too distant future.
