Ex drag bike back on the road

Always wanted to build a Z1 turbo and at last got the opportunity.
As an ex drag bike first thing was to sort the frame and put back on a lot of the missing brackets and tabs
As I’m intending on running a ridiculously short exhaust I’ve not added back the exhaust hangers
Project is moving along quite nicely partly thanks to the COVID lockdown and working at home (every cloud and all that) and enjoying trying to locate some period race/ tuning parts
Lots done but still lots to do!

Few more pics of work to date Wanted to keep the draw through carb and rebuilt the original Bendix Zenith but wanted options when finally together so became the owner of a couple of Keihin carbs courtesy of Zed1015
Needed to make an adapter so combined it to locate the nitrous fogger hand cut the plates and first real stab at ally welding.

Why I wanted to get this back road worthy and also to build up around early vintage parts where possible

Hey! small world
Great to see those carbs getting some proper use.
The bowl with jet access i made for setting up was only Lumiwelded on to avoid distortion .
Good and strong but worth a mention so you know.

Very small world

Thanks for the bowl info I was planning the same to use it for set up. Made an adapter for an S&S as well which I’ll kit out with a thunder jet Hope that one of the options will do the job but suspect a Mikuni may be the eventual route lol
