Re: Z1000ST restoration again!
Hi men
it's time you meet my new assistant: Thorben ( a Scandinavian name) , roughly translated it means "thunderbear".
As you can see he's fond about an ST already, of the seat that is, and he's wearing a chain...he's young, only 9 weeks, and he stil has to learn that an ST doesn't need a chain.
Anyway his hammer, Mjölnir, is standing right next to him and the way he looks at it doesn't predicts any good.
I hope he doesn't chew up to many parts ...
Let's hope he can stay my partner in crime for the next 14 years to come...

the differences between a little boy and an adult man is the price and size of their toys!
Re: Z1000ST restoration again!
He’s a handsome looking youngster! You do right, starting him on the bikes early, just make sure he doesn’t chew your seat while he’s the apprentice!
Re: Z1000ST restoration again!
Shorten it a bit more as it looks like he has his own hammer and he becomes Thor. He looks lush Philippe and already is starting to help out

Cracking little helper you have there Philippe
Re: Z1000ST restoration again!
Hello Philippe, you will have to buy a side car, so young Thorben can ride out with you
Re: Z1000ST restoration again!
Hello guys
a bit more progress during the past weeks:
the lower engine is assembled
the pistons were cleaned and received new piston rings
the cylinders and the cylinder head are painted
the cylinder bores were honed, the valves lapped in
the other engine parts were degreased and they received a clear coat, after a week they spent half an hour in the oven to cure the clear coat.
After mounting the pistons in the cylinders, the engine was mounted in the frame
and then it was time to complete the engine .
After that I mounted the rear wheel and mudguard
Now I'll have to wait for the other parts to be rechromed and galvanized before I can continue with the assembly.
These parts should be ready in the next week.
As soon as I have the parts back, things will go fast!
In the mean time I'll continue with the bodywork.
More to come soon!

Hi men
the past weeks the parts came back from the chromer, all the bolts, the front mudguard, the rear brake pedal and the complete exhaust are rechromed.
All the parts that needed to be regalvanised are back and mounted.
Due to family matters, which took a lot of time, I used a spare body set, an ebony one and mounted it on the bike.
She's finished !!!
I hope I can fire her up for the first time tomorrow, fingers crossed!
She didn't became a showroom model but she's in a very decent shape , let's hope there are not too many bugs when I ride her in.
Just some pictures:
