Further to kawasaki-man's comment about the ring compressor. If anyone needs the 900cc version I have the genuine 57001-532 ring compressor (as pic) which I'm happy to loan to PUM's.

If you're local to me (within 50 odd miles of M3 JCT12) I can drop off (make sure the kettle's on) or you can collect (the kettle will definitely be on), or if not I can send insured post (and would want it returned by same method) if you pay the postal charges.

Hi, i am just getting ready to replace my barrells back onto my pistons after full engine strip for vapour blasting and replacement of several internal components.
I have noticed reference to the 'Kawasaki specoal tool' and im guessing it holds all pistons at the same height and stops them rocking on the gudgeon pins? The Haynes manual states the job can be done without by doung the centre 2 pistons at max height then lowering to the outer 2. The bores have a generous lead in which makes entering the rings with your fingers easier.
Whats your thoughts on this, it sounds easy but may be easier with tool?

Graham, it's easy as f**K without using special tools. The lead in is long and gradual so as long as its well lubed it almost fall on. Bit of tapping on the cylinder tops with your hand and it's done. I use a bit of pvc drain pipe with a slot down the side and cable tie around it to get the initial lead in.
What are you doing on the base gasket? Clean or sealer?

Thanks Warren, sounds easy, was going to put on base gasket without sealer as recomended in manual. When i stripped it it had some sort of sealer on it was a nightmare to get off and the gasket came apart in multiple sections. Also i have fitted the new rubber o rings to the base of the liners however i would have expected them to be a tight fit, but are bit loose, how do you ensure they arn't pinched when seating the block? Also notice manual says line up base gasket oil hole on right, my base gasket doesnt seem to have a hole either side is this correct or should i make one?

I've never used sealer on base Gaskets. Not had a leak yet. Remember to re torque the head after a few heat cycles and also after 500 miles.
Once a base gasket leaks it impossible to get it to stop without a full strip and replacement.
