With the new fuel pump fitted and some new fuel the bike started up on the second go.... A bit smokey to start with but it's settled down nicely now.
I put a new lot of oil and a filter in before i fired it up and after running it for a little while i've changed it again.... probably overkill i know !!
The bike had been coated in some sort of oily spray so i've had it outside and cleaned it all off and given it a wash.
I've taken the rack and the crash bars off as they looked hideous and i've got a shorter (US) spec rear mudgaurd fitted from Mid Norfolk Mouldings

Hi Simonic

stunning bike! She looks great with the short rear mudguard but don't throw the original away! In the future rivet counters like me will search them and pay good money for it!

I have stored the original mudguard in my loft. The std exhaust will be joining it as soon as I am able to source a 4-1 I like.
I recall back in the 1980's when I first started riding these bikes that I threw away many back mudguards and std exhausts. . How times change !!
Best Wishes

That looks lush in white, this is one i picked up I had 2 earlier in the year but sold the other (for a little less than i paid ) before someone realises they are brilliant bikes and the prices take off........

Still a work in progress but she runs like a watch but looks better in the pics,, lots of original bits though (it was originally a USA import) but will eventually be red, but for now i would like to run it as is

That looks like a good example you have there. I guess mine is also a work in progress.I'm going to use it this year and keep making a few improvements alomg the way and take my other bike off the road,or i may sell it. I guess it depends on how much i enjoy the GPz. I too have wonderec when the prices will go up for this model. After all it's the last incarnation of the 8 valve air cooled motor.

Thank You Gary !
The black chrome on the exhaust is still really good. There are no noticable bulges in the silencers to suggest corrosion and just a little surface rust omn the silencer end plates.
The exhaust will be joining the std rear mudgaurd in the loft soon as a i can find a 4-1 i like

stonking bike you have there si, a stunner really!! I'd say go black with the 4/1, chrome pipes would just upset the whole look of the bike I reckon...m. I 'might' just have a pukka old kerker system or two available soon..EDIT (pre - supertrapp take-over of George Kerkers' brand and good pedigree, name etc)
