This is a similar story to mine, i also bought a part restored Z900 A4 which according to seller 'just needed finishing ' ( probably very common) er a bit more then that ended up a full ongoing resto being carried out by me. The problem is the more you go into it the more you seem to find, its knowing whens enough! budget wise, not been easy or cheap but after seeing yours given me hope mine turns out half as good.
It looks fantastic, what a superb job.
Sure he'll enjoy the riding and polishing it.
Heres a couple of photos of mine so far, long way to go though!

I got shot by a rear caliper bolt on my mate's Hardley Ferguson down the M42 on the way to the Bash 25 years ago

Whilst Harleys are OK if you like that sort of thing, their def not my cup of tea, but each to their own, truly cant believe after all that work and expense, hes not even going to use it for a season or so, all i can say is SACRILEDGE!!!!
