zephyr rear wheel
hi everyone,im now fitting a zephyr 550 rear wheel into my 78 z1000 a2,everythings good until i came to the caliper side rear wheel spacer, just a tad too wide to accomadate the rear caliper and chain adjuster,so i have either to shave my spacer down to suit or does anyone know if another spacer does the job ?...
Re: zephyr rear wheel
Interesting , any pics ?? You will probably need to shave the spacer or make up a new one. , obviously most important chain run, wheel central etc.

so far.so good...550zephyr wheel on and looks awesome...took out bike to check, just up road....hmmm..slightly weird..discovered rear 550 spindle needs a spacer, caliper side, had to shave down right side spacer as wheel as it needs to be 13mm length,so now have to sort another spacer to be fitted between caliper and adjuster...must admit looks awesome with a 160 tyre on...more to come

Re: zephyr rear wheel
Is'nt the 550 supposed to have a 140 on it, is the tyre bowed in the middle?

Re: zephyr rear wheel
Its not about if it fits lovely, you can shoehorn an oversized tyre on there easy enough but the side wall will be pinched and creates a dome effect where there should be a flat section. That effect means that the amount of Tyre on the road ( contact patch) is reduced drastically and the handling with it. This might be a cause of the Squirrely effect. Not saying not to run a 2 over size tyre but i wouldn't.
