1976 Z900
Hi to all.
About 4 years ago I bought this 1976 Z900 in Melbourne Australia and then Covid hit.. so the bike got stored at a classic bike shop for 4 years! fast forward to today and I have finally got it home which ment I had to import into New Zealand where I live.
The bike is all original and has 25k on the clock and has all matching date codes but is missing the exhaust. I believe it was sold Australian new as it's got the twin front discs and badged Z900.
I am going to start cleaning it up over the next few months.

Nice find and looks like its got lots of potential but may run a bit weak initially
.

Re: 1976 Z900
nice easy project

Re: 1976 Z900
Looks like a great basis for rebuild/restore if that’s your thing!
Re: 1976 Z900
It will compliment my Z1 900 perfectly, so the plan is to have it in the same sort of condition as my Z1

Yes that's the way two very fine looking bikes..
Got stuck in today and will prep the frame for paint tomorrow have a big box of new parts that came with the bike so I'm hoping it will be a quick build, just in time for your summer.
Re: 1976 Z900
Arhh many cups of coffee used today, decided as it was a nice day 22degs so I prepared the frame, swing arm and stands and painted them all.... moving along nicely only had the bike 3 days!
Re: 1976 Z900
Engine stripped down and back from the vapor blaster spent a day polishing up the other alloy parts, just need a couple of bits and it's ready for reassembling... moving along nicely should have it ready to ride soon....

That is looking really nice and moving along so quickly. Keep the pictures and updates coming...especially any problems encountered and resolved.
Re: 1976 Z900
Engine now coming together, waiting on a new cam chain and rollers etc etc and clutch plates, Boring the cylinders 50thou over.
But the weather was nice today so I went for a ride on my Z1B instead!

Re: 1976 Z900
Been busy but have managed to get most of the bike back in one piece, just waiting on a few small bits and pieces.
Found out that the gasket set i had didn't come with any 'O' rings so I'm waiting on those before putting the engine back together.
With a bit of luck I'll get all the parts in a couple of weeks.

What more could anyone want, 1975 Z1 900, 1976 Z900A4 and a 1972 BDA escort rally car.. Many hours of fun in the garage..
Gotta love the 70's

Haven't posted for a couple of weeks, engine is now back together and just waiting on the exhaust system which is stuck in customs...
Was hoping that it would be on the road before Christmas but early January is looking more like it.
