not another lawson!!

#1 PostAuthor: kawaman21 » Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:58 pm

just picked up another lawson frame, could take along time to build as i am a bit skint at the moment.
this won't be a mint original rebuild, more of a D.O.B.A.R. style racer no lights or alternator,17 inch wheels, daytime mot.
should have the chassis up and running quickly as i have bits from my other lawson which i've had for 15years.
the engine is a different matter.
i got most of the bits with the frame.
one piston has a broken skirt, and i need a clutch cover,(anybody got one?)

never rebuilt an engine before, but as jc would say
HOW HARD COULD IT BE!!!
i'm sure i'll find out,all budding pop yoshie's form an orderly queue! :hoo

yup i did,i have 11r sidepanels,a tailpiece from dave cullen i get tomorrow, the tank from my other lawson as i have a better one in a cupboard at work.no fairing.
gsxr rwu forks, spondon race discs, gsxr wheels and brakes
gsxr swingarm converted to twin shock
just enrolled in photobucket so i'll try and post some pic's,don't hold your breath :)
if i can't get the engine working without spending too much ,i could always cheat and put in a fj12,at least the frame will take it,unlike the spindlier z9's .

had a few hours in the lock up,so started putting the front end and side stand on.
my swinging arm is slightly too wide for this frame,so i'll pop into work and shave a bit off the top hat spacers.
mounted a rear tyre on a zrx wheel, with a screwdriver and a can of mr sheen, a bit rough but it worked.i'll soon be able to move it around, just need a swinging arm spindle and shocks.

captain america rools!!!!!
well i would use the zzr11 forks i have, but that would mean
changing the disc's and wheel.
thought about putting the zzr stantions in the gsxr bottoms, dunno if it would work though.

bit more progress, swinger's in just need to get a swinging arm spindle and some shocks, caliper's were a result,£40 off egay, with new pads and stainless banjo bolts.
going to make some struts at work,so i can move it around,as i need to cure an oil leak on no.1 lawson.i think i'll call the new one HEINZ as it's frame no.57.
