Magnum 1 upgrades

#1 PostAuthor: Magnum1 » Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:04 pm

Popped over to Harris yesterday to ask about getting a 22mm adapter fitted to my tank so I could plumb in the new Pingel Power Flow tap. Went back today and picked it up from Nick, the welder. Nice job for £35.00 including a made up plug. Had a little wander around looking at some frames - saw a couple of brand new Magnum F1 frames for classic racing. Apparently, people are ordering loads of them! Nick reckoned he built my frame back in the 70's. Left with a big smile on my face! :D :D :D

I ordered some rearset parts from Harris a couple of years ago, It was all done over the phone, there was free, friendly advice & excellent service. True 'Gents' indeed. :D :D

Pingel taps flow more fuel, and they are beautifully made. :D :D

Ginger is right + they look good too! Some bikes are thirstier than others, especially if they are tuned/big bore etc. No point in fine tuning anything unless the fundamentals are right. Twin taps should do the job, but mine did not. The bike is much happier now, so am I!

Bloke who made your frame back in the 70's must be on a zimmer frame by now.......I should think you got on like a house on fire.

I am looking forward to seeing this old nail of yours, won't be long now.

First fire up of the year for me tomorrow....should be good.

Mid March maybe we can find that half way house we talked about ?

Nope - Nick the welder is going strong. Not sure if he is as good as Alf. I was going on a trip up to the Arctic a few years ago and the day before leaving, one of my sprocket bolts came loose (my fault) and hacked through the swinging arm. Ferry booked to Bergen and all that so, I took it up to Lester and he said tut tut, then got Alf to take the wheel out and weld it up in situ - 2 hours - 50 quid. Old customer and all that stuff. Next day I was in Newcastle having a fag waiting for the ferry.
Anyway, enough of the good ol days. Yes, it would be good to meet up and see your ol nail too mate. It's a tight month work wise, but we can have a go.
Cheers,
Rod

Had the first ride today, seems to be running really well apart from fuel pissing out the tap when parked....so not much to do to get it sorted for a little excursion.
