Zed1015, I'm impressed that you spotted the oil pressure gauge from that photo!
The bike had been sitting for about 7 years when I got it. Paid enough (too much), but I still thought it was ok for a '73 bike. The motor turned over and had compression so I took a gamble. Put oil and wd40 down the spark plug holes and left it.
I had to do some fault finding in the wiring before I got a spark,(lovely fat spark from the dyna coils and talor leads!
Last week I took the carbs off........F*@k me, wot a mess inside! The floats would not even move, and I couldn't see thru any of the jets.
Cleaned them out, stuck them on the bike, fresh petrol, battery, turn the motor with the kick start a load of times then switched the ignition on......
THIRD KICK it fired up! I only let it run for about 10 seconds then switched off. I am going to put some cheap oil in for the next time then dump it out after another short run.
Cheers
Scott
