Had the zed down at my local dyno guy to try and get an iea of what was going on with my fuelling. Originally ( and preferably still) I wanted to get it to work with the ramair filers, but no matter waht I did with them I couldn't lose a misfire at 6000. I could get the bike to run pretty ok apart from this but the only way I could get it to rev out was to take the filters off, but it was still doing strange stuff.

A couple of hours on the dyno proved pretty interesting - for some reason it seems to start off weak, gets progressively richer through to about 6500 then get weaker again to the red ine, this pattern pretty much persists as an overall thing despite needle and jet changes which really just move the whole graph up or down it's still got much the same trough. This explains why it sn't making much sense on the road, I thought it was doing something odd, and also explains why it was getting what I thought was a rich misfire at six with the ramairs when I had a feeling the main jet had to be too small.

Need to think about this and digest the data, but interesting and more constructive than flailing in and out the road. Plus points are that it was competitively priced, only about three miles away, it didn't blow up, and is now going better than it was with some idea what to do next.

For those of you interested in figures it varied a bit with jetting highest bhp was a shade over 100 at the wheel which is kind of what I thought it might be.

For a 1075 with standard valves I think it's not bad. Apparently strapping them down at the back - which this wasn't - as opposed to clamping it at the front can add a few more to the reading.

Looks like you need to drop the needles, maybe increase the main air jet as well.

Thanks Rich from looking at graphs from the different runs and the effect the changes were having that's what I thought too. I only got a real chance to study it when he gave me the printout at the end.

Bump. A few people including myself have been asking about swingarms and front forks, this is a great project of ChrisNI'.
So I have lifted it back to near the top so people can get inspired.

I'm with you on that Davy......... I think the old "turned-up" cow horn look is dead gay :?? Makes it hard to ride & control the bike properly too

Actually I originally wanted to put flats on it but they won't fit with the master cylinder and the clocks being where they are so I just went for standard Zed style bars which is what were on it anyway.

The bike looks great as it is Chris, I like the fact it looks standard but not and the bars are a big part of that!!
