KZ1000 Mk2 project

#1 PostAuthor: aston » Tue Jun 02, 2009 6:27 pm

Thanks guys for informing me that Z1000 Mk2 was up for sale in May. (Especially for you, Gus)
I quickly acquired that bike and now my Mk2 is in restoration project. I will go to Japan this month and will buy some spare parts for Mk2 like, 4-1 exhaust, Carbs, Pistons (Wiseco 71mm), Ignition systems, harness, Crank bearings, and etc.

Bike is in the UK, and hope I can meet some of Z1OC members in this fall. Project should be finished by early- mid Sept.

Here is the first pics to post.

Good going Aston.

How are you going to get all those parts back from Japan?

Keep the pictures coming.

Looks like you got a good basis to start with.
What was the other bike in your garage? Was it a Ducati?

My whole family will be traveling to Japan in this time, so we will bring few big suitcases. Hope I can put most of spare parts into cases to bring back to UK. 4-1 exhaust has to be boxed separately, though.
I was tempted to buy another Moriwaki 4-1 Monster exhaust again (like my Z1) but....see what I get in Tokyo.

The garage where I am stripping down right now is not my premise, and other bike in pic is Ducati. (900 SS) Ducati is almost completed.

Cheers.

Hi PJ,
I am in around 20-25min south of Solihull. Would love to catch you people soon.
I am a bike-less till my Mk2 project is completed, but hopefully I can turn up.

(Not in June coz I'm in Japan, I might be able to attend in July if I will be back from Spain by that day, Not in Aug coz I will be in Japan again. September will be fine and my Mk2 should be ready by that time.)

Cheers,

25 mins south of Solihull must put you somewhere near me. It only takes me 40 mins to get to Birmingham airport

Only my KX500 and Project bike are MOT'd at the moment and the project bike is in bits.

I may try and get the A2 mot'd on Saturday

25 min south of Solihull + 45 min to Tewkesbury = walking

I tried my best to record a sound of Moriwaki Monaka exhaust, but quality was not much improved. I need a proper video camera to record sound, perhaps.
Below are links of today's updated Z1 (Moriwaki) sounds.

Picasa setting has been changed to English and now "HQ Video" versions are available.
